“Think outside the box” is a phrase tattoo artists often hear but at a certain point that just becomes cliché to the point of everyone being outside of the same box. For our geometric tattoo designs, I wanted to really challenge artists to come up with something unique.
Geometric tattoos are the ones where people stop you in the street to study and get a better look. Almost any design can be transformed into this geometric style and after looking through thousands of geometric inks, I put this list of my favorites.
If you want something really unique, check out our custom tattoo design service. We’ll help you bring your own unique look to life (anywhere in the world).
We’re starting with something small. We’ve got this really cool geometric diamond shape tattoo that’s got multiple layers to it. These layers definitely create more of a sophisticated look. This design is dashing as it focuses on this really cool cat while extending into different shapes and planes. It makes you feel as if you’re in a different universe altogether. We’ve got a feature of a Mandala tattoo with some budding flower petals. These geometric mandalas look best as a larger tattoo design so that you can really get into the details.
This is a really large piece connected in the middle. I love how we’ve got a mixture of circles and triangles which results in a really dynamic and sophisticated look. This design is a great conversation started! These patterns are really cool because it plays around a lot with enlarging smaller designs. It has this great focal point that makes the entire design look more well-connected.This design is more on the abstract side. It’s quite difficult to tell what exactly it is, but it’s perfectly balanced on both ends despite having different patterns. There’s just something about these winged creatures that achieve that otherwordly effect. This design almost seems like uncovering a deeper knowledge.Even without context, this design looks as if it’s been customized to include key aspects of the person’s life. It’s amazing how these tattoos tell such a vivid story. Here’s a yin-yang geometric tattoo that also takes in the theme of time. I love the inclusion of the dessert design below as this location really brings about space for deeper topics to be explored. We’ve got another cerebral piece that considers the balance of the mind and heart. I also like the small details on the side which further the futuristic look. This is a very clean-looking piece as it doesn’t have any designs on the outside or any excess shadows. This is the best way to focus on the design you want to get tattooed.I like how they structured this look to have more of a pristine design in the middle. It’s also got a nice balance of lightness and darkness on the top and bottom of the rectangles. The first thing I think of when I hear geometric tattoos are animal designs. This leopard looks really realistic, but it’s nicely tied in the bounds of the triangle. Here’s a larger piece for your arm sleeve or your leg. This one’s got that trippy interconnected design that shows how all the small things are connected to even bigger things. Here’s another yin-yang geometric design with some features of color. I like how the artist was very intentional with the use of the color since it’s rather bold. We’ve got a heavily shaded piece. The two pieces are tied together nicely through the dotted outer layer, which also adds some lightness to the design.I’m so impressed with this pattern here that creates the illusion of depth and layers. I also like the positioning since it seems perfectly balanced.A really lovely geometric design style that I like is including a main object in the middle and extending it out with some geometric shapes. We’re finally bringing you a little bit of color with a more modern geometric design. I love the look of the planet’s shape that contains these beautiful shaded tides. It gives off such a clean, creative, and innovative look.Sometimes, all you really need to do is to stack different sizes of multiple shapes on top of each other. They can easily create a sophisticated look. We’ve got another animal geometric tattoo, but this time, we’re featuring a lion. I absolutely love how majestic the animal looks in between all of these small shape details. This one’s a more standard design as it simply moves and warps around a couple of triangles. Simply doing so already creates a very bewildering illusion. We’ve got a celestial piece in the mix. I like how the elements can still stand out from each other because of the systematic shading technique. If you’re looking for a small piece that’s simple yet refined, here’s a small colored one for you. I really like how you can place this piece anywhere as there aren’t a lot of space restrictions. This design really focuses mostly on a singular tree, but the different elements surrounding it make it seem like there are otherworldy objects that intersect with each other. The arrow design is definitely a staple piece and is a common choice. This one’s got a few touches to it that differentiate it from your typical arrow. I mostly appreciate the coordinates that add that modern touch. We’ve got another large mandala tattoo located on the shoulder. I find that this is the perfect position for such a design as it emphasizes the center of the shoulder. A cool geometric take on a feminine floral shoulder tattoo. We’ve got this magnificent whale tattoo that’s surrounded by circular and triangular elements that make it seem like the whale is suspended in thin air. Here’s a smaller tattoo of an orca. I especially love the simplicity of the design, as it seems like a breath of fresh air compared to the designs we’ve seen previously.I love this tiny design. I find that these small tattoos give more focus to the different elements of the look. We’ve got a gorgeous geometric flower tattoo that plays around with different shapes and angles to create its design. This one’s a bit more modern and less intricate as the patterns are larger. However, the two colors fit each other really well and create a very calming look. Here’s a very interesting flower tattoo with a rising sun in the middle. I really like the sun placement as it’s really unique and it’s got a very seamless blend.Regardless of whether or not you’re the scientific kind, these atom designs are really eye-catching. I like how there are multiple numerical elements that give it more of a technical and scientific look. Here’s a great tattoo idea if you like getting uniform tattoos. It makes finding a design less difficult, plus it creates great symmetry. Here’s an Egyptian-themed tattoo. I love how the different elements are emphasized since the circular design was very well-utilized.If you prefer heavy ink, these thick strokes should be a great option. They cover a great amount of skin plus there are also rounder designs to balance them out. We’ve got another floral geometric tattoo. What I like about this the most is the line divider in the middle which grounds the piece better. Here’s another heavy look. I’m amazed at how these patterns blend so well into each other. There’s also the perfect balance of shading and no shading. Here’s an animal geometric design that shows that your chosen animal doesn’t have to be enclosed in a specific shape; it can also be blended on the sides of the design. If you’re a pet owner, I strongly urge you to consider getting a tattoo of your pet.
